Calgary (RWH) The icetrack at Canada Olympic Park in Calgary will be upgraded and modernized in spring 2018. As Canadian media announced, the track gets $10-million funding from the Alberta province government for upgrades, i.e. to the refrigeration system. According to calgary.ctvnews.ca, the track will also get some new lighting and shading and the actual length of the new track will be slightly shorter.
The Calgary icetrack was build for the 1988 Winter Olympics. In the past 30 years, Calgary hosted five IBSF World Championships, most recently in 2005, and was venue for various IBSF World Cups, North American Cups and Intercontinental Cups. ©RWH2017
