World and European Champions set to join the German World Cup team
Winterberg (RWH): Germany’s reigning World and European Champions are set to join their national team for the 2017/2018 BMW IBSF Bobsleigh and Skeleton World Cup. According to a report published by Winterberg Ice Arena, this news was confirmed by head German coaches Jens Müller (skeleton) and René Spies (bobsleigh) at a press conference prior to the first selection races.
The World Champions Jacqueline Lölling (women’s skeleton), Francesco Friedrich (2-man and 4-man bobsleigh) and Johannes Lochner (4-man bobsleigh) and European Champion Mariama Jamanka (women’s bobsleigh) will therefore be on the starting line in Lake Placid (USA) when the BMW IBSF World Cup kicks off its Olympic season on 9/10 November. Two World Championship silver medallists in the skeleton, Axel Jungk and Tina Hermann, and bobsleigh pilot Nico Walther (bronze medallist in the 4-man bobsleigh World Championships) have also already been nominated. Bobsleigh pilot Stephanie Schneider, bronze medallist in the 2016 European Championships and freshly crowned German Push Champion, can also look forward to a place in the World Cup team.
The German Bobsleigh, Luge and Skeleton Federation (BSD) are scheduled to allocate the remaining starting places following the selection races at the artificial track in Königssee on 14 and 15 October. ©RWH2017
