Tokio (RWH) The International Bobsleigh & Skeleton Federation IBSF mourns Tsuguto Kitano. The long-time president of the Japanese Bobsleigh, Luge and Skeleton Federation (JBLSF) died on 16 December 2015 in Tokio, aged 92.
Tsuguto Kitano, for many years head of an international building and hotel company („Kitano Group“), significantly promoted the bobsleigh and skeleton sport in Japan and Asia. Furthermore, he promoted Nagano as candidate city for hosting the 1998 Olympic Winter Games. After the International Olympic Comittee IOC decided in favour of Nagano, Kitano also played an important role in the successful organization of the 1998 Winter Games. For the IBSF, Tsuguto Kitano in preparation of the 1998 Olympic Winter Games was Olympic Attaché in the Executive Board.
„With Tsuguto Kitano, sliding sport in Japan has lost a great promoter“, said IBSF president Ivo Ferriani. „We offer his family our sincere condolences and we will hold his memory in honour.“ ©RWH2015-2016
