Winterberg (RWH) Stephanie Schneider and Johannes Lochner from Germany are the 2016 Junior World Champions in two man bob. At the Winterberg bobtrack (GER), Stephanie Schneider, who one year ago won World Championships bronze pushing Cathleen Martini, clocked the best time with Lisa-Marie Buckwitz, followed by Kim Kalicki/Ann-Christin Strack and Sabrina Duljevic/Lisa-Sophie Gericke (both GER). Johannes Lochner/Joshua Bluhm, 2015 World Champions silver medallists, now claimed the title in two man bob, folloewd by their teammates Christoph Hafer/Marc Rademacher and Richard Oelsner/Paul Krenz with silver and bronze, respectively.
New Skeleton Junior World Champions are Latvia’s Lelde Priedulena and Nikita Tregybov from Russia. Lelde Priedulena is the first ever Latvian medal winner at the Junior World Championships. In Winterberg she clocked the best time. Kimberly Bos (NED), bronze medallist of 2012 Youth Olympic Games in the women’s bobsleigh, won Junior World Championships silver, the first ever skeleton medal for the Netherlands in this competition. Anna Fernstädt from Germany claimed bronze.
In the men’s race, defending champion Nikita Tregybov (RUS) won the gold medal ahead of Germany’s Kilian von Schleinitz. Mattia Gaspari won bronze, the first ever Junior World Championships medal für Italy.
Concluding the weekend, Johannes Lochner (GER) won another title with the German four man bob team. Junior World Championships silver went to Austria with pilot Benjamin Maier. The Czech quartet with Dominik Dvorak won the bronze medal.
All current Junior World Champions are qualified to start at the BMW IBSF World Championships Bob + Skeleton 2016 in Innsbruck (AUT) in February. ©RWH 2015-2016
