World Championships in Sochi and Para World Championships in St Moritz as highlights

Lausanne (RWH) The International Bobsleigh and Skeleton Federation IBSF has published its race calendar for the pre-Olympic winter of 2016/2017, the highlights of which are the BMW IBSF World Championships in Sochi (RUS), the IBSF Para World Championships in St. Moritz (SUI) and the BMW IBSF World Cup Tour.
A total of eight races in six countries and on three continents will be held in the BMW IBSF Bob & Skeleton World Cup Tour. The 2016/2017 season will start in North America, with races in Whistler (CAN, 28 November - 3 December 2016) and Lake Placid (USA, 12 – 17 December 2016), and then move to Europe in the new year, with races in Altenberg (GER, 2 – 8 January 2017), Winterberg (GER, 9 – 15 January), St Moritz (SUI, 16 – 22 January) and Königssee (GER, 23 – 29 January).
From 30 January to 5 February, the disabled bobsleigh and skeleton athletes will meet on the famous natural ice track in St. Moritz (SUI) to compete for gold silver and bronze medals at the 2017 IBSF Para-Bobsleigh + Para-Skeleton World Championships. In the same week, the BMW IBSF World Cup Tour comes to Innsbruck (AUT) for the seventh of eight races.
Following the Innsbruck World Cup, the athletes move on to Sochi (RUS) for an International Training Week and their season highlight from 13 - 26 February, when the world’s bobsleigh and skeleton elite fight for the title of World Champion at the 2017 BMW IBSF Bob + Skeleton World Championships (13-26 February).
Following two training weeks at the new icetrack of Alpensia Sliding Center, the eighth and final race of BMW IBSF Bob + Skeleton World Cup Tour will take place at the venue of the 2018 Olympic Winter Games in PyeongChang (KOR).
