Akwasi Frimpong, BSF Ghana
Lausanne (RWH) Ghana, a nation on West Africa’s Gulf of Guinea, is the latest addition on the members list of the International Bobsleigh & Skeleton Federation IBSF. Akwasi Frimpong, Ghanaian-born sprinter, bobsledder and skeleton athlete spearheaded the Bobsled and Skeleton Federation-Ghana (BSF-Ghana), the association that aims to promote the country’s first Olympic-level entry into skeleton and bobsled.
Frimpong, who has dual citizenship in Ghana and the Netherlands, was part of the Dutch bobsled team in 2013. Now, the 30-years-old organized Ghana’s first-ever bobsled and skeleton federation – and switched from bobsleigh to skeleton. Based in Utah (USA), he is back in the gym and on the track training for his opportunity to compete in the skeleton at the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics.
