Sigulda/Winterberg (RWH) On next weekend (28+29 January) the young bobsleigh and skeleton athletes come together in Sigulda (LAT) and Winterberg (GER) for the IBSF Junior World Championships 2017.
For the skeleton athletes up to the age of 23, Sigulda in Latvia is the World Championships venue. On Saturday (28 January, 10 am local time/9 am CET) athletes from 14 nations compete for the titles in Mne’S and Women’s Skeleton.
At the 2017 IBSF Junior World Championships Bobsleigh for athletes up to the age of 26, titles will be awarded in two categories for the first time, with a seperate rating for U23-teams. The Junior World Championships kick-off on Saturday (28. January, 11 am CET) with the Two Man Mob. For Sunday (29 January, 10 am CET) two heats each for Women’s Bobsleigh and Four Man Bob are scheduled.
Only Russian skeleton athlete Nikita Tregybov will be in Sigulda to defend his title from 2016 Junior Worlds. The other current titleholders - Johannes Lochner (GER, Two Man and Four Man Bob), Stephanie Schneider (GER, Women’s Bob) and Lelde Priedulena (LAT, Skeleton Frauen) are in the entries list for the BMW IBSF World Cup in Königssee at the same weekend. ©RWH2017
