Accra (RWH) Bobsleigh and Skeleton are now national sports in Ghana. The West African states National Sport Authority (NSA) officially recognised the Bobsleigh and Skeleton Federation - Ghana (BSF - Ghana) as national sports federation. Currently, BSF founder and Skeleton athlete Akwasi Frimpong tries to qualify for the 2018 Olympic Winter Games in PyeongChang (KOR). If so, he would be Ghanas second Winter Olympian - 2010 in Vancouver Kwame Nkrumah competed in the slalom ski event - and the very first Ghanaian Skeleton athlete at Olympic Winter Games.

"GOC is very proud of Akwasi and his efforts to not only become an Olympian, but in the meanwhile promote winter sport under the Ghanaian youth" said the president of the Ghana National Olympic Committee GOC, Ben Nunoo Mensah, according to a BSF-Ghana press release. @RWH2017
