Sigulda (RWH) Oskars Melbardis/Janis Strenga, Olympic Bronze Medallists in PyeongChang in the 2-man bobsleigh, and 15-years-old skeleton athlete Elvis Veinbergs are the winners of the Latvian Championships 2018. That was reported by the Latvian Bobsleigh Federation at bobslejs.lv.

To finish the icetrack season in Sigulda, Melbardis/Strenga captured the national title ahead of Oskars Kibermanis/Matiss Miknis and Ralfs Berzins/Davis Springis.

The Skeleton Championships were not about the best time - the winner was determined by the most similar results in both runs. Winner of this race was the youngest athlete in the field, 15-years-old Elvis Veinbergs, with a time difference of 0.04 seconds in both runs. Junior European Champion and Overall winner of 2018 IBSF European Cup Krists Netlaus finished second ahead of Ivo Steinbergs and World Champion Martins Dukurs, who both had a 0.16 seconds time difference.

Also international athletes took part in Sigulda, including Austrian Matthias Guggenberger, Ander Mirambell from Spain and Vladyslav Heraskevych (UKR).
