The International Bobsleigh & Skeleton Federation (IBSF) mourns the death of Corrado Dal Fabbro, a former bobsleigh athlete, a senior manager of the Italian Winter Sports Federation (FISI) for many years and the Vice President of the International Bobsleigh & Skeleton Federation (IBSF) from 1992 to 2010.
Born in Pieve di Cadore on August, 4th, 1945, Corrado Dal Fabbro has participated in the European Bobsleigh Championships 1969 where he finished 10th place. Already in 1971 he finished second at the Bobsleigh World Championships.
At the XI. Olympic Winter Games in Sapporo 1972 he was the breakman of the succesful team Nevio De Zordo, Adriano Frassinelli and Gianni Bonichon winning silver in the 4-man bobsleigh competition.
After his sports career he started as the technical director of the Italian Winter Sports Federation (FISI) where he supported the team Gunter Huber/Antonio Tartaglia winning the Gold medal in Nagano 1998. For many years afterwards he was also in a leading position within the Italian Federation as the national counselor for bobsleigh.
At the FIBT Congress in 1992, hosted in Lillehammer, Corrado Dal Fabbro was unanimously elected as Vice President for technical questions relating to bob & sporting equipment.
In 1994 he took over the position of Vice Preisdent Sports interim and was elected by acclamation at the FIBT Congress held in Treviso 1995. Corrado Dal Fabbro played an important role in turning bobsleigh and skeleton into a modern sport by reviewing sports regulations, proposing new rules and implementing modern sports structures. At the Congress in 2010 in Lake Placid he decided to retire due to health problems. Though he was no longer a Vice- President anymore he was always available when neededr – his knowledge and expertise in the sports was exceptional.

The funeral will take place on Saturday, 31st March, 2018 in Tai di Cadore at 3 pm (32044 Tai di Cadore (BL) - via Antonio Rosso 6).
