Ilsenburg (RWH) For the 21st time this summer, in Ilsenburg (GER) all is about winter sports for the weekend of July 6-7 – with wheels for runners and rails for ice. The bobsleigh and skeleton world meet on the market square of the little town for a competition with a long tradition to enjoy a run down the specially built push track. Athletes with a current IBSF license can register until June 30.

On Friday (July 6) the weekend starts with a free training session. After the draw of the start numbers on Saturday (July 7, 12.30 pm CET), the competitions in the various categories begin on Saturday (July 9) around 2pm. The 120 metre, slightly downhill course is a challenge that even the world’s best like to tackle – the list of past victors includes names such as André Lange (four Olympic golds in the bobsleigh, eight-times World Champion), Sandra Kiriasis (2006 Olympic women’s bobsleigh champion and four-times World Champion), Swiss bobsleigh pilot Beat Hefti (four Olympic and six World and European Championships medals), Michi Halilovic (2005 Junior World Champion in the skeleton) and Kerstin Szymkowiak (2010 Olympic silver medallist in the skeleton).

Host BRC Ilsenburg again expects some thousands of spectators.
