Stockholm / Sigulda (RWH) The Swedish capital Stockholm continues the bid process for the 2026 Olympic Winter Games using the slidingtrack in Sigulda, Latvia, as venue for the bobsleigh, skeleton and luge competitions

According to a report on thelocal.se, the Latvian government approved plans for a cooperation between the National Olympic Committees of the two countries, the city of Sigulda and the operator of the slidingtrack. At the same time it will be examined which renovation works would be necessary in Sigulda in case of a successful Stockholm 2026 bid.

Sigulda will host the kick-off of the BMW IBSF Bobsleigh & Skeleton World Cup In the winter of 2018/2019  .

Further on International Olympic Committee´s  (IOC) list for the 2026 Winter Games are besides Sweden with Stockholm also Austria with Graz / Schladming, Italy with Turin and Milan, Turkey with Erzurum, Canada with Calgary and Japan with Sapporo. A host for the 2026 Winter Olympics is due to be chosen in autumn 2019. © RWH2018
