Großgmain / Salzburg (RWH) The traditional Race Organizers' Meeting, organized jointly by the International Bobsleigh & Skeleton Federation (IBSF) and the International Luge Federation (FIL), took place from 10 to 12 July 2018 this year. Race organizers and track managers met at Hotel Vötterl in Großgmain near Salzburg / Austria for the annual exchange of experiences.

More than 40 international experts, including Infront as media and marketing partner of the IBSF, SwissTiming as official timekeeper and Lacher Consulting attended the meeting. In addition, representatives of the Olympic Winter Games PyeongChang 2018 and the Olympic Winter Games Beijing 2022 were on site. The excellent cooperation between the two international associations was underlined by the presence of the sports director of the International Luge Federation FIL, Marie-Luise Rainer.

For the kick-off on July 10, individual meetings of the organizers of all IBSF events were scheduled. Under the guidance of Secretary General Heike Größwang, the individual organizing committees on the one hand and all IBSF sports coordinators on the other hand analyzed the events of the past season in detail and discussed the upcoming season.

The following day was used to give all present organizers a lot of information, so Infront Austria GmbH presented detailed media results of the last season and the results of the successful marketing concept. Also on the agenda was an outlook on the post-Olympic 2018-2019 season, the IBSF race calendar, new developments regarding the rules, future communication and marketing activities, and various aspects of event organization. Media expert Ulrich Lacher spoke about the optimal use of media data. The German federation BSD (Bob- und Schlittenverband für Deutschland) in cooperation with the organizers from the Winterberg track spoke about their experiences with live streaming of their own events as well as the push app initiated by the BSD.

The event concluded with a detailed feedback from the race organizers and the opportunity for individual discussions with the IBSF representatives, Infront and SwissTiming.

Heike Größwang, Secretary General: "Thanks to the close cooperation with FIL and the coordination of meetings, our track operators worldwide can combine the meetings of both international associations and only need to travel once. The exchange is very important for us as an international association - everyone understands each other's needs and conversations can improve our events or our work. The exchange between the organizers also gives everyone the opportunity to benefit from each other's projects and initiatives. "

After a joint dinner of IBSF and FIL in the evening, the FIL held its meeting with the organizers on 12th July. ©RWH2018
