Kumasi (RWH) The Bobsled and Skeleton Federation - Ghana (BSF-Ghana) announced the election of Dr. Vernon Darko as new president. Darko succeeds the founder of the federation, Ghana’s first skeleton Olympian Akwasi Frimpong, who remains BSF-Ghana’s Technical Director. Frimpong also continues his athlete career with the objective of competing at the 2022 Olympic Winter Games in Beijing.
“For the past few months I have been looking for someone dedicated who can take over my position as current president,” Akwasi Frimpong said. “Someone with passion for sports, Ghanaian, loyal and business minded that can help our federation grow towards Beijing 2022. Dr. Vernon is highly qualified not only as a business man, but also a man with vision who has so much love for sports and for Ghana.”
In September, BSF-Ghana announced former US Skeleton Olympian and coach Zach Lund as new Head Performance Director and held a combine test event to find athletes for the national team. ©RWH2018
