IBSF continues Development Program with Training Camp

La Plagne (RWH) Karlien Sleper from the Netherlands and Simon Sanktjohannser from Germany are the winners of the the concluding race of the IBSF Monobob Training Camp in La Plagne (FRA). Karlien Sleper won the women’s race ahead of Viktoria Cernanska (SVK) and Teodora Vlad (ROU). At the men’s race, Simon Sanktjohannser won ahead of Andrei Nica (ROU) and Nathan Besnard (FRA).

The IBSF Development Program stays in La Plagne until March 31 with 30 athletes from 10 nations joining a Training Camp. As IBSF coaches, Elfje Willemsen (BEL) and Joska le Conté (NED) are on site in France. The two former bobsleigh and skeleton athletes are accompanied by Ugis Zalims, who was bobsleigh push athlete and pilot for Latvia until 2018. The camp is guided by IBSF Development Coordinator Manfred Maier from Austria.

The IBSF Development Program supports small and emerging bobsleigh & skeleton nations without own track and without teams in the top 25 to 35 places in IBSF discipline ranking. The IBSF provides support such as training camps on different tracks including fees and coaching, monobobs for rent but also, amongst others, funding of training cooperations between nations.

The IBSF Development Program 2018/2019 concludes in Lake Placid (USA) with a Training Camp for beginners from 1-6 April followed by a Development Training Camp including two Women’s Monobob races from 8-13 April. ©RWH2019
