Olympic Channel streams announcement ceremony

Lausanne (RWH) The host city of the Olympic Winter Games 2026 will be decided in Lausanne, Switzerland, on 24 June at the 134th Session of the International Olympic Committee (IOC).

The IOC Members will vote between the two candidate cities, Stockholm–Åre in Sweden and Milan–Cortina in Italy. Swedish and Italian IOC Members will not be allowed to vote.

The Evaluation Commission 2026, with IBSF Secretary General Heike Größwang as one of the members, and the two candidates will be able to address the IOC members on the day of the election (24 June). The cities will then make their final presentations before the election and announcement on the same day.

The build-up and host city election announcement ceremony can be watched live - ibsf.org will show the Olympic Channel  stream beginning 17:30 CEST on Monday 24th June as part of the coverage of the 134th IOC Session in Lausanne.

Timetable of events on 24 June

Stockholm–Åre final 30-minutes-presentation at 14:00 local time.

Milan–Cortina final 30-minutes-presentation at 14:45 local time. 

Presentation by the Evaluation Commission followed by question-and-answer discussion with IOC Session at 15:15.

Voting will follow at 16:00, with the announcement of the Host City scheduled for 18:00. The signing of the Host City Contract and a press conference follows at 18:30.

For the Olympic bobsleigh, skeleton and luge competitions, Stockholm–Åre plans to cooperate with the Latvian sliding track in Sigulda. Milan–Cortina intends to reactivate the sliding track in Cortina d‘Ampezzo. ©RWH2019
