About 2.500 kids try out Bobsleigh with coach Elfje Willemsen

Lausanne (RWH) The International Bobsleigh & Skeleton Federation IBSF, represented by Development Coach Elfje Willemsen and Development Committee member Alexandre Vanhoutte from the French National Federation attended the Olympic Week in Lausanne (13 to 17 October) ahead of the Winter Youth Olympic Games (YOG) 2020.

With a mobile push track the IBSF offered about 500 kids per day the opportunity to try out the sport of Bobsleigh right in the city of Lausanne, near the Olympic Museum. The federation Swiss Sliding provided the 50 meter long track including time measurement equipment to make the event possible. The sports demonstration also included an exhibition of a skeleton sled, race suit, helmet and shoes as well as 3D animation glasses with a virtual sliding track ride.

The third edition of the Winter Youth Olympic Games takes place from 9 to 22 January 2020 in Lausanne. Venue for the Monobob and Skeleton races is the famous natural track Olympia Bobrun St. Moritz-Celerina. The qualification for the young IBSF athletes kicks-off on October 26 + 27 in Lillehammer (NOR) with the first races of OMEGA IBSF Youth Qualification series. ©RWH2019
