Women's Monobob in all race series, BMW IBSF World Championships in Lake Placid with Para-Sport
Großgmain (RWH) The Executive Committee of the International Bobsleigh & Skeleton Federation IBSF set the course for the sports winter 2020/2021 at its current video conference. With IBSF President Ivo Ferriani, General Secretary Heike Größwang, the six IBSF Vice Presidents as well as the Chairwoman of the Athletes' Committee Christina Hengster participants from eight nations joined the regular Executive Board meeting.
At the moment the federation is planning for a normal winter season. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, persons responsible of course also keep an eye on all other possible scenarios and the respective effects on athletes and organizers.
New Olympic discipline Women Monobob in all race series
The discipline Women's Monobob, on the Olympic program for the first time in 2022 in Beijing, will be offered in all race series - BMW IBSF World Cup, Europe Cup and North American Cup - in the upcoming season. There will then be up to five races per cup under the title "IBSF Women's Monobob World Series". The scoring points will be included in a discipline ranking list as well as a joint ranking list with 2-woman Bobsleigh.
The rules as well as the detailed sports calendar with the venues of the IBSF Women's Monobob World Series 2020/2021 will be published within the next weeks. The discipline is already set for the Olympic test event at the final of the BMW IBSF World Cup in Beijing (CHN, March 8-14, 2021).
BMW IBSF World Championships 2021 in Lake Placid together with Para Sport
The BMW IBSF Bob & Skeleton World Championships 2021 in Lake Placid (USA) offer a special feature. The IBSF Executive Board granted the request of the USA Bobsled & Skeleton federation and the organizing committee to organize a joint World Championship with the Para Bobsleigh athletes this time. ©RWH2020
