Lausanne (RWH) The International Bobsleigh & Skeleton Federation IBSF supported a virtual workshop aimed at tackling the manipulation of sports competitions. The two-day digital meeting for participants from the Baltic region was organised by the International Olympic Committe IOC, the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) and INTERPOL. The Council of Europe, the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) and the International Basketball Federation (FIBA) also supported the workshop.
Held on 21 and 23 July 2020, the meeting brought together over 40 registered participants from Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania. It served to highlight existing good practices and examples of how law enforcement, criminal justice authorities, sports organisations and related stakeholders can prevent, detect and sanction the manipulation of sports competitions.
