Revised race calendar 2020/2021 will be released on September 15th

Großgmain (RWH) In the times of the COVID 19 pandemic, major sporting events are only conceivable with guidelines that ensure the greatest possible protection of everyone present from infection. The International Bobsleigh & Skeleton Federation IBSF has now published its prevention guidelines for the organizers of bobsleigh and skeleton races this winter. The revised race calendar for the 2020/2021 pre-Olympic season will be published on September 15.

The IBSF COVID-19 Prevention Guidelines are based on recommendations of the World Health Organization (WHO), on comments from other international associations and from some IBSF organizers and medical staff. In order to be able to practice bobsleigh and skeleton sports in the 2020/2021 season, the IBSF national federations and track operators must recognize and implement the guidelines.

The guidelines for all athletes and staff include general hygiene and distance guidelines, rules for training, races and award ceremonies as well as corona tests before and during an event.

Spectators at the tracks will only be allowed if the current local health regulations allow it and the IBSF approves the organizer's concept.

„When the IBSF Executive Committee discussed all possible scenarios for the upcoming season the plan to host no events was no option for us at all“, IBSF President Ivo Ferriani wrote in a letter to the IBSF National Federations. „It was clear from the beginning that we should plan with all series and that we must expect a high level of flexibility by all stakeholders given the constantly changing landscape.“
