Stefanie Votz and Krists Netlaus winner at Skeleton Europe Cup
Sigulda (RWH) Alena Osipenko (RUS, 2-woman bobsleigh) as well as Davis Kaufmanis (LAT) and Maxim Andrianov (RUS) in 2-man bobsleigh are the winners at the IBSF Europe Cup in Sigulda (LAT).
Bobsleigh pilot Alena Osipenko, the 2019 Junior European Champion, won both races in the 2-woman bobsleigh with push athlete Aleksandra Tarasova ahead of teammate Anastasiia Dudkina. Third place was a premiere in each case: Viktoria Cernanska (SVK), Youth Olympic Champion in monobob, finished her first 2-woman bobsleigh race in third place with Patricia Horvathova. In the second Europe Cup, Ukraine's Lidiia Hunko/ Iryna Lishchynska claimed a podium finish in 2-woman bobsleigh for the first time.
In the 2-man bobsleigh, Latvian duo Davis Kaufmanis/Krists Lindenblats won the first Europe Cup in Sigulda ahead of Switzerland's Michael Kuonen/Marco Doerig and Maxim Andrianov of Russia, who had to replace push athlete Kirill Antukh with Maxim Belugin in the second run. The second race of the IBSF Europe Cup was won by Andrianov/Belugin ahead of Kuonen/Pascal Moser and Kaufmanis/Ivo Kleinbergs.
In the Skeleton Europe Cup, the victory in the women's race went to Stefanie Votz (GER). For the bronze medallist of the 2020 Junior European Championships it was the first victory in an IBSF race. Second place in Sigulda went to local hero Darta Zunte (LAT) ahead of Rachel Hanagan (GBR).
In men's skeleton, Krists Netlaus (LAT) won on his home track ahead of Cedric Renner and Stefan Roettig (both GER). Youth Olympic Champion Lukas Nydegger (GER) finished fourth. ©RWH2020
