IBSF President Ivo Ferriani gives speach at Closing Reception
Lake Placid (RWH) To celebrate this year’s Olympic Day, Lake Placid and the local Olympic Regional Development Authority (ORDA) presented a VIP and press opportunity to watch Olympic Athletes train at ORDA’s new facilities.
Ivo Ferriani, President of the International Bobsleigh & Skeleton Federation IBSF and Member of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) Executive representing the Winter Sports federations, attended the celebration and gave a speach at the Closing Reception.
Sports officials and athletes, among them Olympic Champion Kaillie Humphries and current Olympic hopefuls training on site, answered questions and presented a firsthand discussion of the benefits of the new training facilities in Lake Placid. From USA Bobsled & Skeleton, CEO Aron McGuire was on site, as well as 2010 4-man Bobsleigh Olympic Champion Justin Olsen demonstrating the new wheeled bobsled attraction.
Every year around 23 June, the Olympic Day remembers the birthday of the modern Olympic Games on 23 June 1894 at the Sorbonne in Paris and raises awareness of the vital role sport and physical activity play in society. (Link current campaign) ©RWH2021
