Beijing 2022 medals, front, (C) IOC

Beijing (RWH) The Organising Committee for the Beijing 2022 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games (BOCOG) has unveiled the design of the medals that will be awarded at the Winter Games.

The medals - named "Tong Xin", meaning "together as one" - are composed of five rings and a centre; the design is based on Chinese ancient jade concentric circle pendants with the five rings representing the Olympic spirit to bring people together.

The front of the Olympic medals shows the five Olympic rings engraved in the centre and the words “XXIV Olympic Winter Games Beijing 2022” engraved around it. On the back, the emblem of the Olympic Winter Games Beijing 2022 is placed in the centre with the full Chinese name engraved around it. The back also shows the name of the medal event, engraved on the outermost ring, surrounded by ice, snow and cloud patterns.
