Whistler (RWH) With the first two races in IBSF Intercontinental Cup as well as three 2-woman and 4-man Bobsleigh races each in IBSF North American Cup, the athletes of the International Bobsleigh & Skeleton Federation IBSF continued the 2021/2022 races series in Whistler Sliding Center (CAN).

Griebel, Silveira and Rukosuev win ICC races

In the Skeleton-only Intercontinental Cup, 2019 Team World Champion Sophia Griebel (GER) won the first Women’s Skeleton race of the season ahead of 17-year-old local hero Hallie Clarke and her teammate Madison Charney (both CAN). Nicole Silveira from Brazil, winner of the first thre North American Cup races in Whistler, continued her successful season with her first ever victory in Intercontinental Cup, followed by Charney and Griebel in second and third.

Junior World Champion Evgeniy Rukosuev from Russia was the winner in both Men’s Skeleton races. US athlete Andrew Blaser, Briton Ben Fulker as well as two times Alexander Schlintner from Austria shared the podium with 2016 Youth Olympic Champion Rukosuev.

Canadian local heroes win North American Cup races

In IBSF North American Cup races, the Canadian pilots Alysia Rissling in 2-woman Bobsleigh as well als Taylor Austin in 4-man Bobsleigh won the three Whistler races at the start of the Olympic winter. Brittany Reinbolt (USA), Bianca Ribi (CAN) ans Jazmine Fenlator-Victorian (JAM) celebrated podium finishes in 2-woman Bobsleigh, the team of US-pilot Frank DelDuca and the Korean crew of Youngjin Suk shared the podium with the Canadians following all three races.
