Date set for the Gangwon 2024 Winter Youth Olympic Games; Photo: POCOG

Lausanne (RWH) The Gangwong 2024 Winter Youth Olympic Games will be held in South Korea from 19 January to 1 February 2024. This date was confirmed by the Executive Board of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) at its meeting in December in Lausanne.

The Games will benefit from the legacy of the PyeongChang 2018 Winter Olympic Games and will be held at four venues: Gangneung (for ice sports), PyeongChang (for Nordic skiing, luge, bobsleigh and skeleton), Jeongseon High 1 (for alpine skiing and dual moguls) and Hoengseong (for the other freestyle skiing and snowboarding competitions). 1900 athletes are expected to attend the Games, they will be accommodated in two Youth Olympic Villages. A total of 81 medal events are on the programme. ©RWH2021
