Six-person Athletes' Commission appointed for Winter Youth Olympics
Gangwon (RWH) Won Yunjong (KOR), 4-man bobsleigh Olympic silver medallist at the Pyeongchang 2018 Winter Games, is to chair the Gangwon 2024 Athletes' Commission, as reported by insidethegames.com with reference to South Korean news agency Yonhap.
Before his Olympic silver medal in front of a home crowd at the 2018 Winter Games, Won Yunjong also won the 2016 Overall World Cup in 2man bobsleigh.
The 36-year-old is accompanied by short track speed skater Choi Min-jeong, biathlete Kim Yong-gyu, luger Choi Eun-ju, curler Kang Su-yeon and ice hockey player Lee Don-goo complete the initial Athletes' Commission.
According to Insidethegames, mentoring schemes and support available for athletes at Gangwon 2024 were discussed at the new Athletes' Commission's first meeting.
The 2024 Winter Youth Olympic Games are due to take place from January 19 to February 1, 2024. Numerous venues used at the Pyeongchang 2018 Winter Olympics are due to stage events, including the Alpensia Sliding Center for bobsleigh, skeleton and luge. ©RWH2022
