London/Bath (RWH) 4-man Bobsleigh European Champions Brad Hall, Arran Gulliver, Taylor Lawrence and Greg Cackett and Skeleton World Champion Matt Weston along with staff and other British Bobsleigh & Skeleton Association (BBSA) team members were honoured to spend an afternoon at Buckingham Palace on April 25. The national federation BBSA announced that Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Edinburgh, who has been Patron of the British Bobsleigh & Skeleton Association for the last two Olympic cycles, joined members of the organisation for tea and cake, congratulating the team on their achievements and learning more about what has made them so successful this season.

The Duchess watched videos of the British bobsleigh and skeleton successes and spoke of her pride in the achievements of the athletes and those who support them on and off the ice.

At the 2023 BMW IBSF World Championships in St. Moritz (SUI) in February, Matt Weston became Great Britain’s first men’s skeleton World Champion since 2008. Brad Hall, Arran Gulliver, Taylor Lawrence and Greg Cackett also won the nation’s first 4-man bobsleigh World Championship medal for 84 years in St Moritz this season.
