Cham (RWH)  Swiss Sliding has announced the appointment of Wolfgang Stampfer as new head coach for the Swiss bobsleigh team. The 42-year-old coach from Austria follows on from France’s Eric Alard.

Wolfgang Stampfer was an active figure in the sport of bobsleigh until 2010, taking part in three Winter Olympics (2002, 2006 and 2010). His greatest sporting success was a bronze medal in the 1999 European Championships in Winterberg, Germany. Stampfer previously worked as coach for the Italian federation.
