Beijing (RWH) Former German bobsleigh pilot Manuel Machata, 2011 World Champion, European Champion and Overall World Cup Champion in four man bob, will be head coach of the new bobleigh team of the People's Republic of China. Together with the Chinese Bobsleigh and Skeleton Association, the 31-years-old in the next weeks will start a search for new male and female icetrack athletes from other disciplines. "We build the bobsleigh team from scratch", said Manuel Machata. "We kick-off with an athletes casting in Beijing and I'm pretty curious about all the athletes."

This winter, the rookies will go through a bobsleigh school with basics, technique coaching but also the first icetrack experiences. "At the end of the winter, we plan to have the first runs on one of the North American tracks", said Manuel Machata. "In the next winter I hope to join the one or other race event with my chinese athletes for the first time."
