Innsbruck (RWH) Three only-women teams celebrated a premiere at IBSF Europe Cup in four man bob in Innsbruck (AUT). For the first time in the history of the race series, female pilots from Canada, Romania and USA with three female push athletes, respectively, competed against the men’s four man teams.
Maria Adela Constantin/Andreea Grecu/Erika Halay/Olivia Vild hit the start line for Romania, Canadian women’s team consisted of Alysia Rissling/Julia Corrente/Janine McCue/Kasha Lee. Elana Meyers Taylor, World Champion in women’s bob, piloted the US sled and was pushed by Kristen Hurley, Kehri Jones and Terra Evans. Ranking in the race – place 27 to 29 of 30 sleds – was not so important for the three teams at their first international race.
This season's goal for the female bobsleigh athletes, among them also women’s bob Olympic Champion Kaillie Humphries (CAN), who starts in four man bob World Cup, are the BMW IBSF World Championships 2016 in Innsbruck, hosting also an Exhibition Race for only-women teams on February 21, ahead of the World Championships finals in four man bob. ©RWH2015-2016
