Hinwil/Berchtesgaden (RWH) Christoph Langen resigns after six years as head coach of the German bobsleigh team and will be the new head coach of the Swiss junior team. This was reported by the German federation BSD and the federation Swiss Sliding.
As bobsleigh pilot, Christoph Langen won two Olympic gold medals (1998 in four man bob, 2002 in two man bob) and seven titles at World and European Championships, respectively.
During his time as coach in Germany, his pilots won eight times World Championships gold (Two man bob 2013, 2015 and 2016 Francesco Friedrich, four man bob 2011 Manuel Machata, 2013 + 2015 Maximilian Arndt, Women‘s Bob 2011 Cathleen Martini, 2016 Anja Schneiderheinze) as well as eleven gold medals at European Championships.
At Swiss Sliding, Christoph Langen takes over the rookie bobsleigh team of Marcel Rohner. According to BSD information, Langens successor in Germany could be Rene Spies. The 2001 Overall World Cup Champion and 2003 European Champion in two man bob was co-coach of Christoph Langen since 2012.©RWH2016
