Berchtesgaden (RWH) Bobsleigh pilot Anja Schneiderheinze from Germany, 2016 World Champion in Women’s Bob with Annika Drazek, ends her career as athlete. As the German federation Bob- und Schlittenverband für Deutschland (BSD) released at bsd-portal.de, the 38-years-old is expecting a baby.
Anja Schneiderheinze switched from ice skating to bobsleigh in 2001 and pushed pilot Sandra Kiriasis. 2004, 2005, 2006 and 2007 the duo won the Overall World Cup. 2005 Kiriasis/Schneiderheinze won the World Championships, at the 2006 Winter Games they celebrated Olympic Gold.
At her World Cup debut as pilot in January 2011 in Innsbruck, Anja Schneiderheinze with push athlete Christin Senkel finished second. In Winterberg, the duo won European Championships silver. In winter 2011/2012, Anja Schneiderheinze competed at all eight World Cup races, celebrated her first victory and finished second overall.
2015 Anja Schneiderheinze/Franziska Bertels became European Champions, with Annika Drazek, Anja Schneiderheinze won World Championships silver later. Her second European Championships gold she celebrated one year later, 2016 in Innsbruck at the BMW IBSF World Championships Anja Schneiderheinze then crowned her career with gold. ©RWH2016
