Winterberg (RWH) Laura Nolte from Germany, monobob gold medallist at the 2016 Youth Olympic Winter Games (YOG) in Lillehammer, carries on as bobsleigh pilot but switches to the bigger two-man bob. According to a report of Westdeutscher Rundfunk (WDR), the 17-years-old student now took part at a first training camp on the Winterberg bobtrack. „It is different, especially regarding the steering“, said Laura Nolte after the first runs in her new, bigger sled. „And you are responsible for the second person sitting behind you.“
During the coming winter, Laura Nolte, who will be taking her final school exams, the Abitur, in April, lays her sporting focus on more training camps and maybe the German Championships and German Youth Championships. „I am too busy with school in the moment for starting in the European Cup – and to be true, I am not yet ready for that.“ But to gain a spot in the German bobsleigh team for the World Cup one day is of course a big aim for the rookie pilot. ©RWH2016
