Königssee (RWH) The German Bobsleigh Championships at the Königssee icetrack completed the national team trial races for the BMW IBSF World Cup 2016-2017.
At the men’s pilots, Francesco Friedrich (World Champion Two Man Bob 2013, 2015 and 2016), Johannes Lochner (World Championships silver medallist Two Man Bob 2015 and 2016) and Nico Walther (World Championships silver medallist Four Man Bob 2015, Overall World Cup Champion combined 2016) secured a bye onto the national team by their last season’s results.
Johannes Lochner in Königssee became the new German Champion in Two Man and Four Man Bob. In Two Man Bob, Lochner and Christian Rasp won ahead of Nico Walther/Kevin Kuske and Pablo Nolte/Costa-Tonga Laurenz. In Four Man Bob competition, Johannes Lochner/Gregor Bermbach/Sebastian Mrowka/Christian Rasp clocked the best time. Nico Walther/Marko Hübenbecker/Philipp Wobeto/Eric Franke finished second ahead of Florian Wagner/Alexander Maier/Alexander Rödiger/Alexej Bogdaschin. .
In Women’s Bob, Miriam Wagner/Lisa-Sophie Gericke won the National Title. Rank two went to Stephanie Schneider/Lisa Buckwitz. Mariama Jamanka/Erline Nolte and Sandra Kroll/Sarah Noll tied for third. Pilot Stephanie Schneider with Lisa Buckwitz and pilot Mariama Jamanka with Franziska Bertels and Erline Nolte will compete in BMW IBSF World Cup, kicking off December 2-3 in Whistler in Canada.©RWH2016
