Hinwil (RWH): Swiss Sliding, Switzerland’s sliding sports association, has announced the country’s bobsleigh team for the BMW IBSF World Cup.
After finishing second in the overall 4-man bobsleigh World Cup last season, the pilot Rico Peter has been chosen to compete in the 2-man and 4-man bobsleigh for the entire 2017/2018 World Cup season. Beat Hefti, the Olympic silver medallist in the 2-man bobsleigh in Sochi, will compete in the first three races in Lake Placid, Park City (both USA) and Whistler (CAN). Clemens Bracher has been nominated to compete in World Cup race number four in Winterberg (GER). Swiss Sliding plans to select the pilots who will join Rico Peter on the starting line at the World Cup race and European Championships in Innsbruck (AUT) following the results of the first World Cup races.
In the women’s bobsleigh, pilot Sabina Hafner will be flying the flag for Switzerland in the first five World Cup races. Martina Fontanive is also scheduled to compete in the races in Winterberg and Innsbruck. ©RWH2017
