PyeongChang (RWH) US bobsleigh pilot Justin Olsen, 2010 Olympic Champion pushing Steven Holcomb in 4-man bobsleigh, was admitted to hospital in Korea and underwent surgery on Monday due to acute appendicitis. This was reported by the Federation USA Bobsled & Skeleton.

Less than two weeks ahead of the men’s bobsleigh races in PyeongChang, the US team is hopeful that Olsen will recover and be cleared to compete.

"We are hoping Justin will recover quickly enough to compete" said USA Bobsled and Skeleton CEO Darrin Steele. „There's no question he's mentally ready, but we are looking at our options in case he physically can't compete."

The Olympic 2-man competition will take place Feb. 18-19, and 4-man races scheduled for Feb. 24-25. ©RWH2018
