Local hero Guro Fronsdal first women to win a medal in Para Bobsleigh World Championships
Lillehammer (RWH) Para Bobsleigh pilot Arturs Klots from Latvia won the gold medal at 2018 IBSF Para Sport World Championships in Lillehammer (NOR). Silver went to Lonnie Bissonnette from Canada, local hero Guro Konstanse Fronsdal from Norway in third became the first women to win a World Championships medal in Para Bobsleigh.
Arturs Klots clocked the best time in all four heats in Lillehammer Olympic Sliding Center to win his second consecutive title. The Latvian finished 0.70 seconds ahead of silver medallist Lonnie Bissonnette (CAN). The Canadian was 2016 World Champion in Para Bobsleigh and won also silver in 2017.
Local Hero Guro Konstanse Fronsdal (NOR, 2,11 seconds back), one of three female athletes in the field, won the bronze medal. The Norwegian is the first female athlete to win a World Championships medal in Para Bobsleigh.
European Champion Alvils Brants (LAT, 2,29 seconds back) just missed out on a medal and finished fourth. Overall World Cup Champion Corie Mapp from Great Britain finished eighth. ©RWH2018
