Lake Placid (RWH) US President Donald Trump has appointed former bobsleigh athletes Shauna Rohbock and Herschel Walker to his Council for Sport, Fitness and Nutrition, as was announced by the Federation USA Bobsled & Skeleton USABS in Lake Placid.
Shauna Rohbock, now coach for the US bobsleigh team, won 2006 Olympic silver in women’s bobsleigh with push athlete Valerie Fleming. At World Championships, the now 41-years-old won two times bronze (2005 and 2007) and silver (2009 and 2011). For World Championships silver 2009, Shauna Rohbock was pushed by Elana Meyers Taylor, who was 2015 and 2017 World Champion as pilot herself and won two Olympic silver medals.
Herschel Walker pushed in the two-man event at the 1992 Olympic Winter Games in Albertville (FRA) for current Team USA bobsled head coach Brian Shimer.
The 23 members of the Council for Sport, Fitness and Nutrition including Rohbock and Walker, who will also serve as co-chair, are set to fulfill two-year terms. ©RWH2018
