Kölliken (RWH) Bobsleigh pilot Rico Peter from Switzerland ends his career. This was announced by the 34-year-old in a press release and via Facebook.
Rico Peter has been one of the most successful Swiss pilots in the recent years, winning the bronze medal in 4-man bobsleigh in Innsbruck (AUT) in 2016 and two European Championship medals in 2-man bobsleigh (Silver 2014, Bronze 2015). In BMW IBSF World Cup, Rico Peter celebrated three victories (2015 in Sochi (RUS) and 2016 in Whistler (CAN) in 2-man and 2016 in Lake Placid (USA) in 4-man bob).
His last big goal, an Olympic medal, Rico Peter missed out: At the 2018 Winter Olympics in PyeongChang (KOR), the Swiss finished fourth in 4-man bobsleigh, just 0.21 seconds behind the bronze medal rank.
However, Rico Peter may not turn away from bobsleigh: "Nothing is specific, but I would like to work with a team as a track coach," he said in the press release. ©RWH2018
