Milan (RWH) Former bobsleigh pilot Manuel Machata from Germany, 2011 World Champion in 4-man Bobsleigh, is the new head coach of the Italian bobsleigh national team. The 34-years-old, who also won 2011 European Championships gold and the Overall World Cup in 4-man bobsleigh and coached the Chinese team from 2016 to 2018, works with former bobsleigh pilot Simone Bertazzo. The Italian is a four-times Olympian and 2007 World Championships bronze medallist.
The duo started the 2018/2019 IBSF racing season coaching the Italian Women’s Monobob athletes Giada Andreutti and Tania Vicenzino in Lillehammer (NOR) at the inaugural races of the coming Olympic discipline. ©RWH2018
