Gdansk (RWH) Former bobsleigh pilot Rudi Lochner from Germany, World Champion 1991 and Olympic Silver medallist 1992 in 2-man Bobsleigh, is the new coach of the Polish bobsleigh team. The federation PZBiS (Polski Związek Bobslei i Skeletonu) announced the new addition to the team in a press release.

The 67 years old Rudi Lochner had his greatest results with push athlete Markus Zimmermann. 1989 in Winterberg (GER), they won European Championships bronze, 1991 in Altenberg (GER) they captured the World Championships title. At the 1992 Olympic Winter Games in Albertville (FRA), Lochner/Zimmermann won the silver medal. Rudi Lochner is the uncle of bobsleigh pilot Johannes Lochner, who, amongst others, was 2017 World Champion and 2018 European and Overall World Cup Champion in 4-man Bobsleigh.

Bobsleigh pilot Mateusz Luty (POL) finished sixth at the 2019 European Championships and achieved a 14th rank at the BMW IBSF World Championships in Whistler (CAN). At the 2018 Olympic Winter Games in PyeongChang (KOR), Luty and his 4-man Bobsleigh team finished 13th. ©RWH2019
