Calgary (RWH) Bobsleigh pilot Alysia Rissling from Canada takes the 2019/2020 sliding season off due to injury. As the 30-years-old announced on Instagram, complications after a calf tear in January are the reason for her decision.

„I developed achilles tendinitis and have had zero pain free days since the end of May despite working nonstop with my trainers, therapists and medical staff to get it under control“, wrote the Canadian. „Any time I push, sprint or jump it seems to blow back on me, which isn’t conductive with high performance in a sport where you fight for hundredth of a second.“

Alysia Rissling competes in BMW IBSF World Cup since December 2016 on a regular basis. At the Olympic Test Event in PyeongChang (KOR) in 2017, she celebrated her only podium so far with rank three. Ahead of the 2018 Winter Games, she convinced 2014 Olympic Champion Heather Moyse to make a comeback as her brakewoman. The duo Rissling/Moyse finished sixth at the PyeongChang Olympics. ©RWH2019
