Lillehammer (RWH) Some of the world’s best Para Bobsleigh athletes are due to support a group of rookies at the Para Bobsleigh school in Lillehammer (NOR, Nov 27 – Dec 2). A total of 19 athletes, among them four women, from nine nations are due to take part at the training organised by the International Bobsleigh & Skeleton Federation IBSF and the Norwegian national sliding federation NABSF. As IBSF coaches, former US Bobsleigh pilot Bree Schaaf (USA) and Sarah Monk are on site.

„The participation of experienced athletes has proved to be very productive“, said IBSF Para Sport Coordinator Kristaps Kotans. „Sharing experience among athletes with similar impairments has a great value.“

Among the experienced athletes attending the Para Bobsleigh school are 2019 World Champion and Overall World Cup winner Lonnie Bissonnette from Canada, 2019 European Champion Christopher Stewart (SUI) as well as two-times World Champion Arturs Klots from Latvia and 2018 Overall World Cup winner Corie Mapp (GBR). Also Norwegian local hero Guro Frønsdal, World Championships bronze medallist 2018 and one of only two women so far to win a Para Bobsleigh World Cup, attends the school at her home track.
