Altenberg (RWH) 4-man Bobsleigh Olympic champion Oskars Melbardis (LAT), 2018 Junior World Champion Andreea Grecu (ROU) and Youth Olympic Champion Jonas Jannusch (GER) are the leaders in the Europe Cup of the International Bobsleigh & Skeleton Federation IBSF after the station in Altenberg (GER).
Oskars Melbardis, Olympic bronze medalist 2014 and 2018 in 2-man Bobsleigh, is just ahead of Junior European Champion Mihai Tentea from Romania in the overall standings after three out of eight races. Youth Olympic Champion Jonas Jannusch is currently third overall. Both races in Altenberg were won by Richard Oelsner (GER). The Junior World Champion had skipped the opening Europe Cup in Lillehammer (NOR) and is currently fifth overall.
In 2-woman Bobsleigh, Andreea Grecu won her second race of the season and defended her lead in the overall standings. In Altenberg she relegated An Vannieuwenhuise from Belgium and Youth Olympic Champion Laura Nolte (GER) to second and third place. Second overall, after finishing eighth in Altenberg, is still the French Margot Boch ahead of Melanie Hasler from Switzerland.
In 4-man Bobsleigh, Youth Olympic Champion Jonas Jannusch finished second in Altenberg and made a leap from rank 11 after the first race to the top of the ranking. Latvian Oskars Melbardis, 2014 Olympic Champion, is second overall ahead of vor Hans-Peter Hannighofer (GER). Winner of the race in Altenberg was Junior World Champion Richard Oelsner (GER). ©RWH2019
