Winterberg (RWH) Four out of eight races in the 2019/2020 IBSF Europe Cup are already behind the Bobsleigh athletes of the International Bob & Skeleton Federation IBSF. Over 150 bobsleigh athletes from 17 nations started in Winterberg this weekend - 36 2-man, 18 2-woman two-man and 22 4-man bobsleigh teams were registered.
At half-time, the 2-man bobsleigh U23 European Champion Mihai Tentea (ROU) leads ahead of Junior World Champion Richard Oelsner (GER). Oelsner had missed the Europe Cup start in Lillehammer (NOR), but then won all following three races. Olympic bronze medalist Oskars Melbardis from Latvia is third in the overall ranking.
Andreea Grecu from Romania leads the 2-woman bobsleigh ranking. The 2018 Junior World Champion has been on the podium at all four Europe Cups so far, at two of them as the winner. Margot Boch from France is second overall ahead of the German Anne Lobenstein. Winners oft he two Winterberg races were Youth Olympic Champion Laura Nolte and Team World Champion Anna Köhler (both GER).
The 4-man bobsleigh is currently led by Youth Olympic Champion Jonas Jannusch, who finished first and 14th in Winterberg. Mihai Tentea (ROU) is second overall ahead of the 2014 4-man Olympic Champion Oskars Melbardis.
The fifth season race in the IBSF Europe Cup is schedules before the Christmas holidays. From December 20th to 22nd, Königssee ist he venue. ©RWH2019
