Oskars Kibermanis in second, Michael Vogt in third for first podium finish

La Plagne (RWH): A second win of the season for defending World Cup title holder Francesco Friedrich (GER): At the BMW IBSF World Cup race in La Plagne (FRA), the Olympic and World Champion and his brakeman Alexander Schueller celebrated the pilot’s 24th victory in the 2-man bobsleigh.

Second place went to Latvia's Oskars Kibermanis with Matiss Miknis. Kibermanis – who finished second in the overall World Cup standings last winter – was 0.26 seconds behind Friedrich/Schueller.

Switzerland’s Michael Vogt and Sandro Michel (0.34 seconds back) celebrated the pilot’s first podium finish at the BMW IBSF World Cup in La Plagne.

Brad Hall (GBR), who finished the first heat in La Plagne in a surprise second place, only just missed out on a medal with his brake man Greg Cackett. Nevertheless, fourth place is still the best World Cup result to date for the duo who finished fourth at the World Championships.

Junior World Champion Richard Oelsner (GER) and Tobias Schneider finished fifth on the pilot's debut at the BMW IBSF World Cup.

After the third of eight races this season, Francesco Friedrich (GER, 660 points) now has a good 60-point lead over Oskars Kibermanis (LAT, 594) in the overall standings for the 2019/2020 BMW IBSF World Cup. The Olympic Champion Justin Kripps of Canada (544), who finished tenth in La Plagne, is in third overall.
