Richard Oelsner with Junior World Championships gold in 2-man Bobsleigh
Winterberg (RWH) U23 European Champion Kim Kalicki (GER) in 2-woman Bobsleigh and Richard Oelsner/Malte Schwenzfeier (GER) in 2-man Bobsleigh are the 2020 Junior World Champions.
Bobsleigh pilot Kim Kalicki with push athlete Kira Lipperheide won Junior World Championships gold in Winterberg (GER). Silver went to Junior European Champion Lubov Chernykh from Russia with Elena Mamedova. The first bobsleigh medal for China at a Junior World Championship won Qing Yin / Jiani Du with bronze. Lisa Buckwitz (GER), 2018 Olympic Champion pushing Mariama Jamanka, finished sixth as pilot with Anabel Galander.
Also the victory in the U23 ranking went to the duo Kalicki / Lipperheide (GER). Qing Yin / Jiani Du (CHN) finished second here, followed by Anastasiia Makarova / Aleksandra Iokst from Russia
Richard Oelsner / Malte Schwenzfeier secured the Junior World Championship title in 2-man bobsleigh in Winterberg. Silver went to Rostislav Gaitiukevich / Mikhail Mordasov (RUS). After the first heat in Winterberg, Junior European Champion Gaitiukevich was in the lead with a hundredth of a second. Maxililian Illmann / Eric Strauss (GER) won bronze.
In the U23 classification, gold and the junior title went to the Romanians Mihai Tentea / Ciprian Daroczi ahead of Hans-Peter Hannighofer / Erec Bruckert (GER) with silver. The Chinese duo Kaizhi Sun / Heng Zhen won the U23 bronze medal.
As Junior World Champions, Kim Kalicki / Kira Lipperheide and Richard Oelsner / Malte Schwenzfeier are also eligible to start at the BMW IBSF World Championships 2020 in Altenberg (GER, February 21 - March 1). ©RWH2020
