Kaizhi Sun defends U23 World Championship title
Winterberg (RWH) Rostislav Gaitiukevich from Russia is the Junior World Champion 2020 in 4-man bobsleigh. With Andrey Kazantsev, Vladislav Zharovtsev and Mikhail Mordasov, Gaitiukevich won his first Junior Worlds gold medal in Winterberg (GER).
Defending champion Richard Oelsner with Henrik Bosse, Eric Strauss and Lukas Frytz secured silver after a race to catch up in the second run, only 0.07 seconds behind the Russians. After the first heat, the Oelsner Quartet was still in fifth place. Bronze in Winterberg went to Junior European Champion Jonas Jannusch with Max Neumann, Tim Gessenhardt and Bastian Heber.
As in the previous year, the U23 world champions in 4-man bobsleigh come from the host nation of the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing. Defending champion Kaizhi Sun from China secured the gold medal for the second time in a row with Hao Shi, Heng Zhen and Jielong Ye. Silver went to pilot Hans-Peter Hannighofer's team ahead of Grigorii Voloskov from Russia.
