Illmenau (RWH) Horst Hörnlein (GER), for many years at the service of the International Bobsleigh & Skeleton Federation IBSF, celebrates his 75th birthday on May 31. The IBSF sends the best birthday wishes and a heartfelt Thank You for the decades of support, with which he always helped many young athletes with words and deeds also as a jury member.

At the IBSF Horst Hörnlein had a decisive influence on the development program for the emerging nations from 2002 to 2011. In the last years, as an experienced member of the jury, he has ensured the proper conduct of many races. Most recently, Horst Hörnlein worked at the IBSF Junior World Championships 2020 in Winterberg (GER), together with the IBSF Europe Cup coordinator Peter Hell and his jury colleagues Anja Schneiderheinze, Gatis Guts, Hermann Gigacher and Martin Elsener.

As a luge athlete, Horst Hörnlein was Doubles Olympic Champion with Reinhard Bredow (1972 in Sapporo, JPN) as well as a 1970 European Champion and 1973 World Champion. He later switched to bobsleigh as a coach, initially in his home country, the then still existing GDR, and in Great Britain. ©RWH2020
