European Champion Kibermanis on third place at the BMW IBSF World Cup in Innsbruck

Innsbruck (RWH) Bobsleigh pilot Johannes Lochner celebrated his first victory of the season in 2-man bobsleigh at the BMW IBSF World Cup in Innsbruck (AUT). At the fifth race of the season Lochner set the fastest time in both races with push athlete Eric Franke. The German duo had a 0.30 second lead over team mate Francesco Friedrich. The Olympic Champion, World Champion and defending World Cup title holder competed with Thorsten Margis - and now has never been worse than second place in the 2-man Bobsleigh for three years or 25 World Cup races.

European Champion Oskars Kibermanis (LAT, 0.47 seconds back) finished third in Innsbruck pushed by Matiss Miknis. After second place in Sigulda, this is the second podium place of the season for the bobsleigh pilot from Latvia.

Dominik Dvorak/Jakub Nosek (CZE) celebrated one of their best World Cup results in Innsbruck in fourth place. In December 2018 pilot Dvorak also finished fourth in Sigulda (LAT). The Czechs shared the place tied with the Swiss 2-man Bobsleigh team Michael Vogt/Sandro Michel.

Local hero Benjamin Maier (AUT) finished twelfth in Innsbruck with Markus Sammer at their first World Cup start of the season.

In the overall ranking of the BMW IBSF World Cup 2020/2021 Francesco Friedrich (GER, 1110 points) defended his lead after five of the planned twelve races. Johannes Lochner (GER, 1029) is second ahead of Michael Vogt (SUI, 962).
